The 11th annual Luck of the Irish Golf Tournament, a benefit for the Hawaii Island United Way, will be staged on March 18 at the Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course at Hokuli‘a.

Corporate co-sponsors Oceanic Time Warner Cable and De Luz Chevrolet, and title sponsor Hokuli‘a Development, invite golfers and friends to come out and help the Hawaii Island United Way reach its campaign goal this year to raise $1.2 million.

The money raised helps to fund 53 health and human service programs provided by 40 local nonprofit agencies around the island. These programs and services are available to all residents on Hawaii Island.

The event kicks off March 17 with a pre-tournament gala from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay. The party will feature a backyard barbecue dinner, live and silent auctions and entertainment by Hawaiian Pure and Simple.

Tournament registration starts at 8 a.m. on the morning of the event at Hokuli‘a, with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. For tournament details and golf application, log onto www.hiuw.org or call the HIUW office at 935-6393. The public is invited to attend the kickoff event. Tickets may be purchased for $50 per person.
